The Ranch
This 336 acre ranch was established in the 1860's, just 21 miles north of Reno, Nv. Tucked in the Sierra Foothills and skirting the high desert of Nevada, we have wonderful fresh flowing water from springs high in the hills behind us and run off from the snow packs.
The native grasses, nourished by flood irrigation, are a beautiful experience to walk thru as it grows with occasional flowers that feed the bees. It is a divine pleasure to watch as our wonderful animals grow and thrive here, including the abundance of wildlife too!
We have a few Jersey cows for milking and rotational pastures for beef. We bale enough hay for the animals that are our perminent residences and put feeder calves on the rest.
We do not use fertilizer, other than spreading the cattle manure. There is some areas of whitetop, an obnoxious weed, that the gov agencies spray for removing, but they assure us it is completely biodigradable [I have the specifics upon request] not in hay area.
Although we are not organic certified, we follow their standards as close as possible, believing natural is always best as nature know best!
Primarily we love ourselves, our animals and respect the earth and it's inhabidents!
